The Orlando Scene...

Ryan Price and myself moderated a discussion amongst local area technology/new meda leaders yesterday at blogorlando. Last year in this session, we covered the many reasons why Orlando has the potential to develop into a wonderful technology scene. This year, we as a group got to discuss all the many efforts taking place now to help make it happen.

Enjoy, and thanks to the folks who came and shared, and especially to the guy in the back with the fancy camera that captured it :)

Coworking stuff...

We've created a google group for the Orlando coworking initiative. This isn't intended to replace the general Coworking group of course, just more of a place to get noisy about finding spaces and hooking up various folks looking to get going.

We have a couple groups that are ready asap, and a number of people who are ready one-day-in-the-future. All are welcome. If nothing else, it's more community building for our town ;)

Check it out here.

Attention Orlando Residents...

Make sure to check out, and get involved with, MyRegion.org.

Simply put, the projects goal is to figure out a plan for how to best grow the region. Our population is slated to double over the next 40 years, and it's important to decide now the things that are important to us. Green space, transportation, community structures, etc.

Over the next couple weeks, every night at 9pm there will be a program on WMFE-TV outlining the various choices that have been drawn up. If you can't watch/tivo it, make sure to poke around on their website. Invest 30 minutes of your time and make your thoughts known. Spread the word to anyone else in the area as well.
