UCF Basketball Seasons...

Ugh.

I had two season tickets last year. They were glorious. Cheap, fun entertainment. Whenever we had someone in town, it was a perfect way to show them our alma mater. The "product" was competitive just enough to make even the Memphis game (blowout) enjoyable.

I just got a renewal notice in the mail. They've tripled the price of the tickets. Last year, UCF had trouble getting 3k people to a game. The ticket supply has gone from 4,000 to 10,000. Supply + no demand = triple the price? I know what you're probably thinking.. "Them's the berries!".. And you are right.. Progress is progress and it's great to see UCF expanding their revenue. But look at it like this...

Basketball seasons now cost more than Football seasons. If that's not enough to make you scratch your head, think of it like this -- It is now cheaper to go to a NBA game than it is to a UCF home game. Say what you want about the NBA and the Magic, but the idea that a ticket to an undersold college arena will cost more than our local professional team is a bit absurd. (In case you didn't know, Magic games start at $10 and are a load of fun.)

I don't know. We'll have to think about it and decide if it's worth it. If I hadn't already given UCF as much money as I have (between 4 football seasons, GKC membership, annual funds, MIS department, etc), I probably wouldn't be so gun shy. I can't wait for the new arena, but I mean.. damn. Kathryn and I could *both* go to the movies for the price of one UCF basketball ticket.
